Two weeks ago I asked whether you’d like to see a little more of my bridesmaid proposal on my Instagram stories (@arumlilea) and you all voted “YES”! So today I thought I’d show you a little bit of the boxes I made up to ask these beautiful women to stand by my side on my wedding day.
To start off it’s worth mentioning that I actually have six bridesmaids, even though you only see four boxes in this post, just so you don’t think I added on a few people along the way when you see our wedding pictures of the bridal party.
I wanted to keep my boxes pretty simple so I opted for 3 very simple little gifts. The first thing I knew that I had to add was the “Wedding Day” Yankee Candle. It looks so cute in its mini size so I placed that in the centre. I’ve always envisioned my bridesmaids dressed in light pink so I decided to include a bottle of Essie “Ballet Slippers” in the box too to hint at the shade they’d be wearing. They could even paint their nails this shade on the wedding day too if they wish. Lastly, I decided to add a few rose gold hair grips to each box on a card with a painting of a flamingo. On the back of each card, I wrote, “Will you be a part of my flock and help me keep a grip of things?” I also wrote each of my bridesmaids a card that said “I can’t say “I do” without you. Will you be my bridesmaid?”
I was quite worried about not being able to coordinate everyone’s schedules and be able to see them all at once, but I managed to use my birthday as a decoy and had them over for a “birthday brunch” which was, in reality, a “bridesmaid brunch”. We had champagne, pancakes with frozen yoghurt and blueberry toppings, fresh fruit, granola and all my favourite breakfast bites. It was so lovely to be able to surprise them when they least expected it and it was a memory I’ll cherish forever.
Hopefully this gives you a little bit of inspiration if you are thinking about your bridesmaid proposal. There are so many wonderful ways to do it and Pinterest is a great resource too if you’re looking for more ideas.
