Today is my 30th birthday! What a mind warp. Some days I still feel like a sixteen year old. I have to say, however, that I feel so incredibly settled at the age of 30. I felt that when I turned 20, I was just starting to enjoy my freedom but I still had to finish university, figure out my career and it was, in general, a time of discovery. You can read all about the highs and lows of my twenties in this blog post.
Now, at thirty, I’ve established my career, I’ve found the love of my life and I’m going to marry him in one month, I know exactly what my values and ideals are and I feel so confident and so happy in the place and space I’m in right now. Thirty and THRIVING sounds about right.
That’s not to say that there won’t be any growth in my thirties, however, it’s really exciting growth. I can already believe that as I enter into my thirties, these are going to be years in which family plays a dominant role in my list of priorites. God willing, there will be children. We will most likely move into a house which would become the home for our family. I imagine we will also explore many currently unknown destinations too which is always tantilising.
I’ve noticed some of my friends freaking out over the fact that they’re turning thirty and focusing on all the things they haven’t achieved at this point, but I’m so focused on the things that I have achieved and how full my life if right now that I can’t help but experience a total sense of gratitude.
The calendar for the coming year following my 30th birthday is already full of the most exciting times plotted out over the next 12 months and it delights me! So as I set off for another year around the sun, I just want to say a huge thank you for reading good old Arum Lilea and taking a moment of your day to browse through this post. I’ll also be posting a 30th birthday video to share what celebrations we get up to so if you’re not already subscribed to my YouTube channel, you can go and do that here.
