Our Wedding Decor

Our Wedding Decor Our Wedding Decor Our Wedding Decor Our Wedding Decor Our Wedding Decor

I’m starting off this week with another wedding-related blog post – this one dedicated to our wedding decor.  This was such a fun element of wedding planning.  I really enjoyed browsing through copious amounts of Pinterest pictures and Instagram feeds to decide which direction we’d go in.  There are so many interesting wedding trends at the moment that look so exquisite but I decided to go with something really true to my style.

I knew I wanted a clean, elegant and classic feel to the whole evening seeing as it was a very traditional wedding.  I decided on keeping things very simple by picking a single colour palette – white.  White table cloths, white napkins and white flowers.  To add a little accent of detail, I chose to play with hints of gold.  I love gold cutlery so I thought that would be a beautiful break away from the standard silverware.  I also decided on a simple glass charger/under plate with gold balls around the edges to tie in the hint of gold.

In terms of flowers, I had a very clear vision of having white flowers grouped by type of flower in a single vase rather than having arrangements of multiple flowers.  It was just the simplicity of it that I loved.  We also used candles in single candle stick holders on the table which added different heights and dimension.  Some were floating in water, others in traditional crystal candle stick holders.  I absolutely loved them.

When it came to menu cards, I knew I wanted something, once again, very simple but classic so I stuck to the white and gold colour palette.  I also knew that I wanted personalised menu cards so that there would be a single piece of stationery per person to streamline the overall look of the table layout.  In all my research, I actually came across these menu cards on Etsy which were everything I was looking for.  I personalised them, took them to our local print shop and they came out exactly the way I had imagined.

Our ceiling was particularly unusual for a traditional setting but I think it was really complimentary to our wedding decor.  We decided to make use of intervowen branches with fairylights and arum lilies suspended downwards from the ceiling.

In terms of chairs, to ensure that we kept with the theme of simplicity, we used ghost chairs.  I’m a lover of Tiffany chairs which was my inital choice, but after seeing the ghost chairs at our mock up, we decided that those were perfectly suited to the overall look and feel of our wedding decor.  In terms of table layout, we decided on a herringbone layout which was something I actually hadn’t seen before.  The head of the herringbone layout had the Bride & Groom table which was really lovely because we could see all our guests easily and they could see us clearly too.

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little more about our wedding day.  Choosing our wedding decor was really such a great creative project that I thoroughly enjoyed.  If you’d like to see more of our wedding details, be sure to visit the Wedding category of the blog for many posts relating to bridal makeup, our wedding photos, planning, engagement photographs, etc.

In case you were wondering, our table decor and flower arrangements were provided by Fab Events.  Our ceiling details were supplied by Bona Dea Estate.
