Hi everyone! Next in my Beauty Fix series we’ll be discussing all things hair related. If you’re looking to up your hair game with luscious locks and radiant shine, I’ve discovered the hair care products you need to give you healthy looking hair every single day. Here is a breakdown of everything I use in my own hair care routine.
The ghd team actually introduced me to this range of shampoo and conditioner because it is so lightweight and doesn’t leave product buildup on your hair. This also means that your hair doesn’t become weighed down so your blow-dries are extra voluminous (yes please!). This shampoo and conditioner are such a winning combo.
Once I’ve washed my hair and brushed it out, I like to apply a pecan nut-sized amount of this product. It smells absolutely heavenly and it really nourishes my hair in preparation for styling. Even once I’ve blow-dried my hair, I can feel a huge difference when I’ve used the product compared to the times when I haven’t used it. If you want your ends to be super healthy, nurished and beautiful, this product is essential. I absolutely love it! I also love the hair mask in this range – it’s amazing.
If I’m not using the Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique, I’ll use this product. It also aims to protect your hair from splitting and can protect the hair against heat when styling your hair. If you aren’t using heat protectors before styling your hair, I would really encourage you to. I try to avoid heat damage at all costs and this is a great product to get you on the right track. I always keep stock of this product on my shelves.
It’s now time to get styling. Hair is weakest when it is wet so, while you might think air drying your hair is the best hair care, that isn’t always the case. If you’re finding your hair to be extra dry, brittle and a less than silky texture, I’d highly recommend using this hairdryer. I start with a cool temperature and as my hair starts to warm up, you can increase the heat setting. ghd styling tools don’t go above 185 degrees celsius which is the optimal hair styling temperature to avoid any damage so you know you’re in good hands when using this hairdryer. You’ll also notice that your hair becomes far shinier if you blow-dry your hair rather than letting it air dry and that goes to show that you’ve given it the best care possible. Lately, my ghd Air has been my favourite hair tool and the condition of my hair has improved so much since I’ve been using it. The silky shine is beautiful and the volume created by the blow-dry is an absolute bonus.
This brush is simply amazing. It doesn’t tug on my hair at all but gently untangles and bits that may have grouped together. It also feels so good on my scalp that it’s a bit like having a head massage. I made a switch to using this brush in December and now I can’t go anywhere without it. I brush my hair before and after I wash my hair and I use the same brush to blow dry my hair too. It’s fab!
I’ve used hair oil since I was in high school and I truly believe everyone should. I like to use a dry oil that isn’t going to leave my hair greasy. I apply one or two pumps to my ends right after blow-drying to add moisture to my hair after the heat to prevent it from becoming dry. I also like to add a pump or two each day until my next wash to keep my hair in perfect condition. I’ve used this particular hair oil for ages and I love it. It doesn’t give me a greasy texture at all and it has the most beautiful fragrance that I love too.
Lastly, and this is something relatively new to my routine, I have started dying my hair at home. Since high school I’ve had a few highlights added to my hair every 6 or so months which I’ve always loved, but during lockdown, I realised the greys were popping through more than the highlights could disguise so I decided it was time for solid colour (and I was really sad about it). I tried a few brands and a few shades before I found what I was looking for but now I am so happy! I’m using Garnier Nutrisse Creme in number 7 which is pretty much an exact match to my natural shade and I love it! Every 3 months, I apply a box to my roots for 25 minutes and that’s all I need to maintain my colour which is about as low maintenance as you can get. The box does say you should apply colour for longer than that and to the full length of your hair but I really don’t need all that processing and I’m thrilled with the results I’m achieving. Also, the conditioner that comes in the box is the conditioner of dreams (it’s like butter for your hair) and lasts for multiple washes after colouring so I’m so happy about that too. I couldn’t be happier about this cost-effective, time-saving, at-home, DIY hair trick. I thought I’d just add this little tit-bit here even though most of you probably don’t struggle with greys but, if you do, don’t stress about it – it’s an easy fix.
