This is the most exciting post I have ever written and I’ve written a number of really exciting posts over the years. I’m so happy to share with you that we are expecting! I’m constantly reminded of the scripture reading 1 Samuel 1:27, “I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.” I read those sacred words when we were trying to fall pregnant and within the next two weeks, I discovered I was pregnant. What an answer to my prayer!
I’m currently 20 weeks so I’m officially halfway through my pregnancy and I can’t believe how time has flown! During the first trimester I was finishing off my post-grad studies so I was navigating both which I probably wouldn’t recommend but it definitely kept me busy! Ryan’s also been preparing for his surgical primary exams so the majority of this pregnancy so far has been spent together in our study. I hope our little baby has been learning from Mom and Dad 🙂
Since my final submission it has been wonderful to start planning for our little cherub. We are so excited for what is to come. I have plenty to learn but I’m really enjoying the whole process. I’ve been playing lots of music for our little one, most noteably, Saint-Saëns: Carnival of the Animals (Aquarium is my favourite so I always play that one on repeat).
In terms of cravings, I’ve wanted all of the sweet things – biscuits, frozen yoghurt, fruit, cake, etc. That’s been a little strange for me because I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. We started a weekend (decaf) coffee and cake routine which has been quite fun. Either we pop out to a bakery or I bake something at home to satisfy the craving. I think our little cake dates will be a treasured memory in future.
Something I’m really looking forward to doing is putting together our baby’s book shelf. I’ve been thinking about all the different fairytales and classic stories that I’m going to be reading to this little angel and I’ve started pulling a few of my favourites from my collection to read during the second half of my pregnancy. I think it’s making me even more excited reliving all of these precious stories.
As you can tell, I’m truly bursting with excitement and enjoying this stage of life and I’m so happy to share the news that we’re pregnant with you. If you have questions about anything so far, please share them and I’ll do a pregnancy Q&A post to answer them. That could be fun. If you’d like to know absolutely anything, let me know!
