Teddy’s first birthday

Last month we celebrated Teddy’s first birthday with our friends and family.  I can’t believe have a one-year-old.   Our sweet little baby boy is now a toddler.  Goodness, thinking about how quickly time has passed has made me so emotional.  I’ve been reliving the night before Teddy was born, how the nerves kicked in as I sat and ate my dinner, showered and curled my hair.  At midnight, Ryan and I went into the hospital to begin the induction process and just after 11 am on 20 December 2021, I held my son in my arms.  What a life experience!  You can read the birth story here.  The past year has been exhilarating as I began the journey of motherhood.  It’s something completely all-consuming and I have the most tender, unconditional love for this child.

For his first birthday, we had to have a Teddy Bear’s Picnic, of course!  We had such a wonderful day with friends and family at the gorgeous Johannesburg Country Club.  His cake was actually the exact same cake as the cake we ordered for the baby shower which was quite a sentimental thing for me.  Perhaps I’ll repeat the order every year for the next few years!  We were spoilt with a beautiful sunny day to celebrate our little boy.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get near enough photos with everyone but here are a few that I did manage to capture.  It was definitely one of the best days of the whole year and so special to share the day with our nearest and dearest.

Happy first birthday my dear boy.  You are the biggest delight of my life.
