Tintswalo at Waterfall – Hotel Review

Last weekend Ryan and I had the pleasure of staying at the exquisite Tintswalo at Waterfall which is an exquisite, five star, boutique hotel.  It is situated in close proximity to Waterfall Estate and the Mall of Africa so for those of you looking for an incredible staycation or accommodation for a business trip somewhere within Johannesburg, definitely keep reading.

We arrived at Tintswalo at Waterfall on Friday afternoon just in time to be settled in our room and enjoy the sunset from our balcony.  I would never have guessed I was still in Johannesburg because it was so wonderfully quiet and peaceful.  It was marvelous watching the sun sink below the horizon over a beautifully kept polo field.  It’s worth mentioning here that an equestrian theme runs throughout the hotel and it is beautifully showcased in the decor, art and the name of each room being the name of a breed of horse.

The rooms at Tintswalo at Waterfall are easily the largest I have ever stayed in and the bathroom, too, is the largest I’ve experienced in a hotel.  The bathrooms boast double basins, a large bath and an open shower.  Scented candles are provided so you are able to relax and unwind while you bathe which is exactly what I did.  After enjoying a drink in our room we prepared ourselves for dinner.  The hotel has a smart dress code after sunset which I thought was lovely because everyone dining was well dressed for dinner.

The hotel’s restaurant is named “The Feedroom” and it is well worth experiencing in its own right if you aren’t looking for an overnight stay.  You can read my Zomato review and view what we had to eat here.  The food was extraordinary!  After dinner we came back to our room and noticed that the hotel offered a turn-down service and beautifully fluffy robes had been laid on our king size bed for us to enjoy as we wound down the evening.  We had been left sherry and delicate sherry glasses which I thought was a lovely touch over and above our large tea and coffee selection.  We were also left chocolate chip cookies which could not be resisted.

The next morning we took a short walk before breakfast and loved how peaceful the atmosphere of the hotel and its surrounds were.  The staff at the hotel are incredible.  Everyone from the manager, the waiters and the cleaners were so friendly, welcoming and incredibly attentive.  This was definitely a five star experience at its finest and we couldn’t have enjoyed our stay at Tintswalo at Waterfall any more than we did.  Thank you to all the staff for making it such a wonderful experience.

Our rating: 5/5

If you would like to book a stay at the hotel for yourself (perhaps for a special occasion with your special someone) definitely do not hesitate as you will not be disappointed.  We highly recommend experiencing the luxury that is Tintswalo at Waterfall.
