Hi everyone! Given that it’s my birthday month and I haven’t done one of these posts since June last year, I thought it was time to share a few things I’m loving this January.
Lately I’ve been…
Watching – “Anatomy of a Scandal” on Netflix. I love Sienna Miller and haven’t seen her in anything for many years so I was intrigued when I saw this on Netflix. The storyline is so good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ryan and I also really enjoyed The Swimmers which is about the Syrian Olympic gold medalist and her sister and how they swam across the sea to seek asylum in Europe. Lastly, we’ve been rewatching Harry Potter. We just finished Chamber of Secrets and I forgot how funny it actually is. My crazy love for Harry Potter has not faded over time. I simply adore the series.
Reading – Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I’m about half way and its a real beach read so far but I’m enjoying it. I’ve already read a number of books this year and you can find my recommendations here.
Eating – at home, or trying to at least. Ryan and I are really trying to make a conscious effort to put more time into our dinners. Before Teddy was born, we took such pride in our dinners but after he arrived, we started eating out of necessity so we definitely want to get back on our healthy and nutritious band wagon.
Listening to – Taylor Swift’s Midnights (3am edition) album. I’ve also been loving Hans Zimmer. My most listened to playlist this month would be Apple’s Classical Sleep. It’s so beautiful! I play it during Teddy’s bedtime routine most nights and a love hearing it through the house in the evening. It’s so calming and peaceful.
Looking for – a white marble cake stand. I love this one so I might go ahead and order it but I would have loved one with a domed lid. I’d love a beautiful one to display my cakes when we have guests over.
Planning – our trip to Paternoster next month for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We absolutely love the Western Cape and we’re lucky enough to be able to pop down for visits to my in-laws from time to time. The last time we were in Paternoster, I was in the early weeks of my pregnancy so we’re very excited to show Teddy around this time. We can’t wait to see him running along the beach.
Using – Rosemary in my hair care routine and I’m loving it! I’ve seen this trend popping up on social media from girls with the most beautiful hair so I jumped right to it. I had a series of unfortunate botched hair colour last year which is no fun when you take such pride in your hair and you’re paying an insane amount for your hair colour in any event. Needless to say, I was quite concerned about the integrity of my hair and making sure that it remains in good condition despite the botched colour. I’ve also grown a full head of postpartum hair which is amazing and I definitely wanted to nourish it from the get go. Rosemary is, apparently, a hair growth stimulant. I’ve been mixing it with a carrier oil (either coconut or olive oil) and using it as a scalp treatment. I’ve also been mixing it in with my shampoo and I’m loving the results so far!
Loving – spending time outdoors. We’re either walking or swimming or feeding the swans or playing outside and it’s been absolutely magical. A lot of books I’ve read lately have expanded on the benefits of spending more time outdoors and since moving back to Hartbeespoort, I can 100% understand why. Nature has the most incredible way of resetting your mind and resorting your serenity. It also makes for so many magical family moments.
