Paternoster

23rd January 2015

paternoster beach paternosterpaternoster housepaternoster housespaternoster sunrisepaternoster sunsetAs promised, here is my Paternoster post.  This is such a sleepy little fishing village up the Western Cape of South Africa and it is a treasured gem.  By car it is a 2 hour drive from Cape Town and my plane it is about half an hour.  Having never been further west than Cape Town, I was so excited to explore this area of our gorgeous country.

Here all that there is to do is relax, read a book and drink lots of wine.  I couldn’t have asked for a better vacay.  I spent time on the beach but I didn’t actually get into the water (it was way too cold!).  Long walks on the beach and sun rise and sunset photo-ops were an absolute must while I was there.

I have to thank le bf for the opportunity of discovering this part of the world which I hadn’t even heard of before he told me about Paternoster.  We were staying there with his family and it was just an incredible experience.

Have you been to Paternoster?

Being a Cape Tonian, one has to know Paternoster…it’s one of the best tranquil, rustic and very authentic fishing villages. The locals are so friendly. The rustic restaurants produce the best seafood dishes…and there are so many nice seaside cottage accommodation options. Definitely the place to retreat to from time to time to escape the rat race:-)

I love going there to refresh at least twice a year if not more. The restaurants are phenomenal!

I missed out on the restaurants. We cooked up a storm every day but I was still sad to have missed the cuisine! Just an excuse to go back though 😉

Paternoster is lovely, but if you ever want to have even *more* tranquility… St Helena Bay is just north of it. The West Coast is simply full of these gems 🙂
