Jumeirah Beach Residence

While we were in Dubai we spent a day wondering around the Jumeirah Beach Residence or JBR Walk.  This area of Dubai is absolutely gorgeous.  It has everything from a white sand beach, fine dining restaurants, high end stores to shop in, spas and, if you’re into high performance cars, this is the place where everyone comes to show them off (no kidding – Ferraris are more common than taxis on this side of town).  There is also a gorgeous harbor nearby where luxury yachts are anchored.

I was so excited to head out to this area of Dubai because there is a Ladureé here.  This particular one is called Ladureé, The Beach.  It is situated in prime location on the JBR walk as it overlooks the beach (was that obvious? 😉 ).  There is something about this area that makes me feel as though I’ve been transported back to South Africa and that I was sitting on a promenade in Cape Town.  The atmosphere, as well as the view, is very similar.

We spent the day slowly wondering down the walk of the Jumeirah Beach Residence, stopping to enjoy its delights along the way.  We started off with tea and a French treat at Ladureé, spent some time on the beach, watched as camels roaming along the shore, had lunch at a Mexican restaurant while taking in all the super cars that drove by, browsed through the stores and then headed back to our hotel to shower and change to head back to the Jumeirah Beach Residence for a dinner cruise of the Marina that Ryan had booked for us to do.  The cruise was absolutely wonderful by the way.  Look out for more of that coming up in my next Vlog.  (If you haven’t already, you can find my last two Dubai travel vlogs here and here.)

During the day, however, I kept my outfit simple for a long day of walking around.  This grey tee, white denims and espadrilles were the perfect outfit to keep me comfortable all day long.  You don’t often see me in flat shoes but experience has taught me that when travelling and covering many kilometers by foot, there is no other option.  These cute espadrilles were perfectly cut out for that challenge!
