Hair Care

23rd March 2016

hair care favourites tresemme hair care

Hi everyone!  Today I’m back with a new hair care post.  I have a couple go-to essential products that keep my hair in tip top condition.  All of these products I have been using for years.  The only new products I ever try are from brands that I’ve trusted from high school so they are well tried and tested, even if it is a new range to a trusted brand.

Step 1: washing

The starting point of my hair care routine begins with a great shampoo and conditioner.  Lately I have been revisiting my love affair with Dove hair care products.  I’ve been using the Dove Advanced Hair Series Pure Care Dry Oil range of shampoo and conditioner and I’m really impressed.  My hair is shiny and well moisturised after using this range not to mention that it also smells absolutely beautiful.  Once a week I will switch out the conditioner for the Dove Intensive Repair treatment mask with nutri-keratin actives for extra healthy and extra nurished hair.  I find weekly treatments are so beneficial in my hair.

Once I have washed and conditioned my hair, I towel it off and add an oil to my ends.  I’ve been using the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil.  It contains macadamia oil which is rich in protein and absolutely wonderful for your hair.  It smells heavenly and if I had to find one fault with this product it would be that the fragrance doesn’t last past drying your hair.  I’ve been using this bottle since December and it looks untouched so it is most probably going to last me the majority of this year which is unbelievable.  I have honestly found that this oil has nourished my ends and ensured a longer period between needing hair cuts which is amazing.

Step 2: styling

When styling my hair I always reach for my Tresemme heat defence spray.  This thermal protector has been great at protecting my hair against the harsh effects of styling with heat.  While I try to avoid heat as much as possible, I generally style with heat over the weekend.

To ensure my hair stays styled for up to three days I like to use Tresemme’s Salon Finish hairspray.  It really locks in my style but also allows movement in my hair which is exactly what I look for in a hair spray.  I find nothing worse than a hairspray that leaves your hair feeling crispy so this one is great!

Step 3: prolong wear

Another product that I’ve had in my hair drawer for years is the Batiste dry shampoo.  Recently I’ve been using the Deep & Dark Brown shade which is great because I don’t have to worry about my hair looking grey or dull after using the colourless option.  I spray this on my roots first thing in the morning and then follow with my skin care routine before brushing out the dry shampoo.  Not only does it absorb excess oil in my hair but it also adds volume to my hair (which I’m crazy about).  It adds such great texture to my hair that sometimes I use it in freshly washed hair for extra volume or to create a beautiful braid that will hold in my hair.

With the use of all these fail-safe products I know that my hair will always be in tip top condition.  After having used all of these products for years they have truly stood the test of time and earned their place in my hair draw and my shopping cart.  Have you tried any of these?  If not I truly recommend you try them and fall in love with them yourself.

Giveaway

To celebrate glorious good hair days, I’ve got Dove hair care hampers to give away to two lucky readers.  To enter all you need to do is the following:

  1. Follow Arum Lilea on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (@arumlilea);
  2. Comment with you handle below so I can check you’re following; and
  3. Share this post on social media.

I’ll be drawing the winners next week.

To follow this hair care post I though I should put together another hair tutorial.  What do you think?  Would you like to see another hair tutorial?  If so is there any particular style you would like to learn how to do?  I have a few ideas in mind but I’d love your suggestions.

I haven’t tried the new Dove Pure Care Dry oil, my hair does get worn down by all the heating products I use on a daily basis so would love to try this shampoo. ( and it’s affordable, winning!!) I don’t care much for hairstyles but I would love tutorials on anything that is quick and easy for hair care. I currently just wash my super long hair quickly in the mornings and leave it to air dry for the rest of the day. It works for me but I don’t know how healthy that is for my hair.
