I had eyelash extensions done for the very first time about three weeks ago. If you’ve been reading my blog or watching my makeup tutorials for a while you will know that I really love the look of voluminous, fluffy and very long lashes. To achieve this effect I often use strip lashes which I love. When Romy from Fabulash, based in Sandton, reached out and asked if I’d like to try Russian Volume eyelash extensions I couldn’t have been more excited to give it a whirl.
The process of having eyelash extensions takes approximately 2 hours so prepare to take a relaxing nap when having yours done. The team at Fabulash also offer clients the option of having nails done at the same time. I chose to have a ProGel (which is a type of Gelish) manicure done simultaneously to my lash extension. Waking up to a gorgeous set of lashes and beautiful nails is really quite wonderful and had me feeling like Sleeping Beauty. The moment you see yourself with your new set of lashes I can guarantee you will be hooked and you’ll wonder how you ever survived without them. Not only are they beautiful but they also cut down my morning makeup routine by at least half because now all I use is foundation, a brow filler, blush and lipgloss for my day-to-day look.
I have had so many people asking me for the details of where I had my eyelash extensions done so I have included those down below. If you’re in Johannesburg and you’re looking for a place to have your eyelash extensions done, look no further. I have also included any details you may be curious in about the process and maintenance of eyelash extensions in this vlog. I hope you enjoy it! I highly suggest making a booking to experience this beauty revolution for yourself. Thank you so much to Kylie for doing my lashes and to Romy for filming the process.

I collaborated with a local shop for my first extensions, and I really loved them! Like you said on the video, it saved so much time for makeup, agree! Only downside was that it was so much maintenance I have to take care of them to stay last long!
You look more fabbbb with the extensions!

They really do save so much time. In terms of maintenance, the only thing I needed to change was my oil cleansing routine. I had to change back to a face wash but apart from that everything else has stayed the same. I did stop using eyeliner, though, in the hope that they would last longer if I wasn’t fiddling with my lash line. Thanks so much Aika, you’re a sweetheart! xxxx

I always get so worried that it will just pull all my natural eyelashes out! Have you found this at all? I have decent eyelashes and would absolutely cry if they fell out and disappeared if I got extensions haha Great post!!!
Leanne says
The extensions lash extensions that I have a really, really light. I actually can’t even feel them so they don’t weigh down or pull on my natural lashes at all. I also have decent amount of long, black lashes and I haven’t found them to be affected. When the lash extensions come loose they generally fall out on their own as opposed to pulling out the natural lash they’re glued to so they aren’t affecting my own lashes. I would also be devastated if my natural lashes were affected but I’m happy to report they’re just the same. I hope that helps. Thanks so much for reading!!

Hi Sofia,
Just to elaborate on what Leanne explained is that eyelash extensions will NOT cause your natural lashes to fall out if they are applied using the correct technique and the best quality product. Please make sure when choosing someone to do your lashes that they are accredited and be sure to check out some before and after pics. Your natural lashes are constantly growing and falling out, the lifecycle of a lash is only about 4 weeks. We place the extension on your natural lash and as your lash grows and falls out the extension will fall out with it or as Leanne mentioned an extension could fall off the your lash due to wear and tear. Don’t be scared of damage especially not if you come to Fabulash ☺️
