Malibu Beach, California

While we were in Los Angeles we headed out to Malibu for an afternoon.  We took a drive out to Malibu Café which is in an area so perfectly hidden that, unless you were specifically looking for it, you would never find it.  It isn’t a touristy spot at all which makes even better.  It has such a wonderful outdoor set up with a pool table, giant-sized jenga and other gamesplaced all around the garden.  The food at Malibu Café is absolutely incredible!  You will probably already have seen pictures of what we ordered and the cocktails that we drank on Instagram Stories and/or Snapchat.  It was simply out of this world.  The place has such a dreamy atmosphere that it’s quite possible to go for lunch and end up staying until after sunset with a bottle of wine and great company. 

From Malibu Café we drove to the Malibu Beach and took a walk along the pier just as the sun was dipping.  It was such an extraordinary experience.  The beach was pretty much deserted so we had it all to ourselves.  The cliffs along the Malibu Beach add such an incredibly beautiful dimension to an already gorgeous beach making it a place which you want to store in your mind’s eye for eternity.  As we walked we laughed to the point that my belly ached.  It was just one of those magical days that I wish I could have bottled and stored on a shelf to pull out those memories at a later date.  It was incredible to feel so full, so alive and so happy.  To share such a beautiful location with my favourite people is certainly one of my most treasured moments.
