To celebrate Women’s Day I thought I’d compile a list of my current Beauty Favourites August 2017 edition. There’s nothing quite like celebrating femininity with a fabulous, liberating bright and bold lipstick, a powerful fragrance or a dramatic smokey eye so I thought we should celebrate girl power on Arum Lilea in exactly that kind of way. It’s incredible to think how far women have come in the past 100 years and how victorious we have been in breaking the stereotype of living in a men’s world. Being able to cook is now a choice and not a necessity. We have the opportunity to be educated in whichever topics we choose. We have the choice to follow a career path and excel in financial independence. Women today are juggling family, careers and social lives and, considering our history, I think it is quite phenomenal. That being said women, by their very nature, tend to put themselves at the bottom of the pile of priorities so what better day to treat yourself and reward yourself for all that you juggle on a daily basis.
While juggling extremely busy schedules full of work commitments, school and social activities (aside from remembering to make that dentist appointment you keep forgetting about) it’s possible that you have been neglecting your skin care. If you have, I’d like to recommend that you try the new Clarins Hydra-Essentiel range (serum, gel and moisturiser) which my skin has been loving lately. I actually took this range to Croatia with me and very nearly cried when I realised I’d left it behind in a bathroom while we were travelling. It’s an unbelievable range and my skin absorbs the products like a sponge. When your skin needs a little extra attention, I highly recommend using these Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules. In the office, we’ve dubbed these capsules “gold” because they work like magic and the effect on your skin is instant. It’s quite incredible. For dry lips, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour® Cream has been my go-to for years now. Even since trying this product I have not so much as looked in the direction of another lip balm.
A strong and independent woman should always have a signature scent reflective of her personality. My favourite is Alien by Mugler but they have just recently launched the Mugler ALIEN Eau Sublime Eau de Toilette Limited Edition fragrance which is a beautiful, lighter take on the original fragrance that will be perfect for spring and summer. If you’re a fan of Mugler, you’d also love the Mugler ALIEN Prodigy Body Lotion which is ideal after a relaxing bubble bath.
As for makeup, why not spoil yourself with a new Clarins Lip Oil? They’re really light and moisturising with just a little tint which is perfect for a natural glow. If you’re a little more daring and looking for a stronger pigment, the Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor collection is definitely worth trying out. The lipsticks are long-wearing, moisturising and smell heavenly too. Urban Decay recently launched their Vice Liquid Lipsticks which are just fabulous. The packaging is so glamorous and the quality of these lipsticks definitely live up to their hype!
If you haven’t already hopped on the eyeshadow palette bandwagon and don’t want to break the bank in joining the trend, I can highly recommend the NYX Professional Makeup Ultimate Shadow Palettes. These come in a number of different tones but the warm tone palette is probably my favourite. There are so many great shades in these palettes which is wonderful because it means you can create a multitude of different looks by using a single palette.
When the day is done and it’s time to take off your brave face, I cannot recommend the Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Dissolving Spray and Urban Decay Meltdown Makeup Remover Cleansing Oil Stick enough. With natural ingredients, such as turmeric which is a natural anti-inflammatory as well as an antioxidant, these products able to melt off all your makeup without any harshness on your skin at all. I’m really excited about the launch of these two makeup removers because I think they are truly revolutionary in the beauty world and they definitely score an A+ on my list.
So that’s all for this Beauty Favourites August 2017 edition. I hope that you’ve found a few products here that have caught your eye and you’ll go out and try. I want to wish every single lady out there a very special women’s day. I hope that, now that we have made strides in terms of our independence, we can make strides to work with and support one another. There’s far too much online hate overshadowing the good that women are capable of and I truly hope that we can overcome that in the very near future. Have a wonderful day off!
