2018 has most certainly been an eventful year. I’ve had so many incredible moments and made so many beautiful memories that I will treasure forever. While I share a few of my favourite snaps from Ryan’s recent Medical Ball which a great excuse to get dressed up (I wore this which was such a steal at under $30), I thought I’d take you through my favourite moments of 2018.
In January we traveled to Cape Town for a wedding which happened to fall on my birthday! This was one of three weddings that we had on our calendar for 2018. We spent a week enjoying the sunshine and great wine of that part of the world. We love it so much that we actually spent two more weeks in the Western Cape later in July and again in December.
In May one of my best friends married the love of her life and I was honoured to walk down the aisle as one of her bridesmaids. Ryan won the garter toss at the reception that evening, which was a real omen for what was to come later in the year.
On 3 November 2018, Ryan knelt down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I have never been happier in my entire life. I still feel as though I’m walking on cloud 9. You can take a look at Our Engagement Story here. We have started the wedding planning process and it is so incredibly exciting. Let me know if you’d like to see wedding planning updates here on the blog!
This year I also launched the Arum Lilea Collection which is a dress collection that I have designed myself. It’s been a creative challenge unlike anything else I’ve ever done and yet I’ve always wanted to do it so I finally took the plunge and I’m so grateful that it has been so well received. You can shop the collection directly over here. I will be adding new designs in the new year so please sign up for our mailing list so you don’t miss out on new launches.
2018 was also the year that I really fell in love with fitness. I’ve actually never been fitter. I completed BBG twice and I’m currently working my way through BBG 2.0. I’m also able to run a lot further than I’ve ever done before. I will never be a runner, that much is certain, but I’m running about 15km a week in between doing BBG. I still love yoga and I’m hoping to do a lot more of that in 2019.
This year I read 20 books, my favorite of which were Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman, Shoe Dog by Phil Knight and Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier (a re-read). My favourite TV shows were Versailles, Pretty Little Liars (I’m pretty slow to this party but I watched all 7 seasons!), How to Get Away With Murder and Vikings. My favourite movie of 2018 was, without a doubt, A Star Is Born. I’ve had the soundtrack on repeat ever since I watched the movie.
With all that being said, I’m quite sad to wave goodbye to 2018, however, I know that 2019 is going to be another incredible year. We will be starting off the year with our engagement party which we cannot wait to celebrate with our friends and family. We have 6 weddings along with our own wedding planning scheduled for 2019. We also have two international trips lined up in and amongst our local trips which are also lined up so it looks as though 2019 is going to be one for the books and I’m totally excited for it!
Thank you so much for sharing the journey of 2018 with me and I can’t wait to do the same in 2019. Happy New Year!
