Welcome to this year’s October Readathon! I asked on my Instagram whether you’d like me to go ahead and prepare one and over 80% of the responses said “YES PLEASE” so here we are! You may remember my first reading challenge from last year that you all seemed to enjoy. These readathons are so much fun because it’s a little bit of a challenge, completely flexible and adaptable to you and a great way to bump up the number of books you read this year. Basically, it’s just the nudge you need to keep us all reading. It’s also wonderful to know that we’re all reading together so join the challenge with your mom or bestie, the more the merrier!
This is how it works:
- The number of books you wish to commit to reading during the challenge is entirely up to you. 1 book is the minimum to complete the challenge but you’re more than welcome to complete one book for each book prompt.
- Take a look at the map, and pick your stops on the Halloween Hay Ride. You don’t need to pick each one and you can skip stops on the map. Once you’ve picked your Halloween activities, find the respective book prompt in the ledgend. You have the freedom to pick any book that fits that prompt. It’s entirely flexible to what you like to read which makes this even more fun because it’s so wonderful to see what everyone chooses to read.
- Once you’ve picked your stops on the map and respective books, please leave a comment below with your stop and book selections so that we can keep record of what everyone’s reading. This also helps others look for suggestions for particular book prompts.
- The reading challenge will start on 1 October 2021 and will run until 30 October 2021 (Halloween). Let’s see how many stops on the map we can get to during that time period!
Anything that is listed on Goodreads as a book will qualify for a point so this includes short stories, anthologies, graphic novels, works of fiction or non-fiction, etc. Any genre counts so long as you meet the book prompt contained in the legend. Children’s literature, young adult or adult categories are all included in this challenge. Audiobook versions also count for a point and can definitely help you fly through the challenge.
