I’ve been reminiscing about my time in New York City the past couple of days and so I’ve pulled out a couple pictures from my archives (there are thousands more where these came from). New York is such an interesting city that is so different to any other city I’ve ever visited. For starters it is so fast paced! I thought Jo’burg was pretty fast paced but it’s not even a fraction as fast as New York. Its description as the city that never sleeps could not be more accurate. There is always a rush and buzzing around you.
In this incredible city I walked pretty much everywhere because I didn’t want to miss out on anything. From Time Square and the Rockerfeller Centre down to the Flat Iron building and back to Central Park I definitely made great distance on foot and I’m so glad I did. These beautiful buildings and sky scrapers that I’d seen in so many movies popped up as I turned the corner making me feel like I was staring in a movie of my own – one in which the backdrop was the made character. Speaking of movies, also I went and had tea and cake in Serendipity, the restaurant featured in my favourite movie of all time. I definitely wasn’t going to miss that opportunity!
One of the best memories I have of New York is one afternoon that I bought macarons from the dining area in the Plaza Hotel, walked to central park and had a picnic enjoying the beauty surrounding me, absorbing the atmosphere and devouring the most delicious macarons I’ve ever eaten.
