Hi everyone! It’s my first blog post since our wedding! We were married on 22 February 2020 and I have so many wonderful stories to share about our big day and the week that followed and you can be sure to find out all the details in upcoming posts. I can’t believe I’m a married woman. I have to say that I’m loving it!
For my first blog post back since the wedding, I thought it would be fitting to take you through my bridal skincare and wedding beauty treatments. I love reading these posts because it’s always great to know what tricks of the trade can help you with radiance, natural glow and all-round well-being. We all want to look glowing on our big day so I really made sure that I did all the prep I could before the big day.
RETINOL
The very first skincare change I made after Ryan proposed was to incorporate retinol into my evening skincare routine. Retinol, or Vitamin A, has so many incredible properties for the skin from reducing fine lines and wrinkles, improving the size of pores and regenerating the surface of the skin. I’ve mentioned how valuable I find retinol to be many times before (read this post) and the science truly backs it up. I’ve noticed such a visible difference that I would highly recommend everyone pick up this tip, whether you’re a bride-to-be or not. If you’re interested, I use this retinol product.
CHEMICAL PEELS, LASER AND MICRO-NEEDLING
About eight months before the wedding, I went to the Skin Renewal Institute and had a consultation with one of the doctors at the clinic who was so knowledgable that I learnt a tremendous amount from him during my appointment. He gave me a skincare plan to follow complete with products for daily use as well as a monthly treatment plan leading up to the wedding day. If you follow my vlogs, you may have seen a few of these treatments.
I’ve had a range of chemical peels, laser and micro-needling treatments at the Skin Renewal Institute. I had a few treatments which involved minor peeling. I also had a treatment which peeled my whole face which was quite a funny experience but sooo worth it if you can schedule a weekend to yourself.
While you may think these treatments are aggressive, they cause the skin to regenerate so quickly that within days you have beautiful, baby soft, beautifully fresh skin. These treatments are also great for bringing all dirt lingering deep within the skin to the surface so you may experience a few breakouts during this detox process. Once you’ve cleared the congestion in the skin, however, there is a really noticeable clarity and glow to your skin.
I’m so glad that I went through this process. The integrity of my skin at the moment is sensational. I honestly couldn’t be happier. I am going to continue having treatments at the Skin Renewal Institute because I love the staff and I’m all for having doctors monitor the process of perfecting your skin. To me, a visit to the Skin Renewal Institute is essential for every bride-to-be.
LASER HAIR REMOVAL
I’ve been shaving and waxing for years but I decided that I wanted to step up my game and do laser hair removal before my wedding. I have rapid hair growth and, as a brunette, it’s definitely far from subtle.
I’ve been going for laser hair removal at the Linksfield Laser Clinic for the past year and I haven’t looked back. My appointments are booked monthly and from the very first session, there was less hair growth. I’m now at the point where I don’t even need to shave between sessions and only have a few patches of hair growth that need to be lasered. This is well worth the money, ladies. This is definitely a wedding beauty treatment I recommend because it makes such a difference not having to worry about hair!
MICROBLADING
Unfortunately, I happen to fall into the statistic of those who over-tweezed their eyebrows in high school. My grandmother told me not to and I wish I had listened. Today, my brows have grown back thick, however, the tail of my brows have really suffered and needed a little bit of help. I had received an offer to try out micro-blading by a local salon a while back and declined because I just wasn’t feeling comfortable about it.
Since then, I found Allure Defining Beauty on Instagram who does the most marvellous brows and after a few months of following, I decided that it was time to take the plunge and book my appointment. They are so popular that I booked in May and could only get an appointment for October so do bear that in mind if you’re looking to make your own appointment. You may have watched the process in this vlog. I’m so over the moon with the results of my micro-blading experience.
It’s worth noting, however, that my skin didn’t retain the dye from my first appointment which is not unheard of so it is very important to go back for your follow-up appointment. I’d definitely recommend this wedding beauty treatment. If I can make any recommendation on micro-blading, it is this: please be very, very careful with who you choose to do yours. Make sure you do your due diligence and ask to see pictures of other clients before and after their brows have been micro-bladed. Please don’t book the first deal you see because this is a semi-permanent treatment and you want it to look good.
I hope that by me sharing what wedding beauty treatments I had done before the wedding that you find this helpful for whatever treatment you might be considering. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section below and I’ll be sure to answer them.
