We celebrated our baby shower on 23 October 2021 and it was one of the sweetest days of my life. All our nearest and dearest came out celebrate the anticipation of the arrival of our baby boy and I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear as I looked around the room at all the faces that smiled back at me. It’s really something to know how loved our little man is already. We are so blessed. We had a teddy bear theme for the day and it was so much fun to find beautiful sketches of teddy bears to decorate our stationery and our day with.
We wanted to celebrate at home in Hartbeespoort so we set up our house for the day with gold, blue and white details. Our cake was made by the incredible Muse Bakery who did such an excellent job! Wasn’t it gorgeous?! We went for a carrot cake because that is our favourite (it was our the flavour of our wedding cake too). We also played a few games which was so much fun. The first game was a bit of an ice breaker that I’d put together with little details about the guests that the others might not know and then Ryan’s mom hosted a game in which you had to name 10 famous teddy bears taking us back to our childhood. So cute!
We had such a delightful afternoon with our friends and family. We also had a surprise guest – my sister-in-law Rachel flew in for our baby shower from Switzerland. I couldn’t believe my eyes. It truly was so special, every single moment. I can’t wait for our little man to meet all these people who already love him so dearly. We had asked for books for his little library and we received the sweetest books that I cannot wait to read to him and our guests wrote their names inside the books so we can tell him about his friends and family while we read to him. I couldn’t be more excited! Today is one month until we check into the hospital for his delivery so it’s really not long to go now! His hospital bag is packed but I still need to pack mine so I’ll need to do that in the next week or two.
