The month of April has been an unbelievable month. Right at the beginning of the month, I flew to California for my very dear friend, Cassie’s wedding. It was the most sensational wedding and it was even more special to be a bridesmaid on the big day. After the wedding, Ryan and I flew to Orlando and hopped on a Royal Caribbean Cruise and headed off to the Bahamas. That being said, welcome my Bahamas Travel Diary.
This was our very first cruise so we weren’t quite sure what to expect but after speaking to our friends, we soon realised we’d made a good choice not only in terms of doing a cruise but also in picking Royal Caribbean as our cruise line. For those interested, we sailed on the “Enchantment of the Seas” which was an extremely impressive ship. We couldn’t believe how much food and entertainment was made available to us right through the day and night. It is absolutely impossible to do everything that’s offered on board the ship because there is just too much going on so there is never a dull moment.

We particularly loved the after-dinner entertainment. We watched a comedy show which had us laughing off our seats. We also watched a Whitney Houston tribute which was out of this world. The final show we watched was a production entitled “Can’t stop the rock” which had lots of singing and dancing.
In terms of dining experiences, made use of both the buffet and à la carte options. The majority of the time we opted for buffet breakfasts and every night we ate that the à la carte restaurant. I also made use of the salad bar if I was peckish in the afternoon. In terms of drinks, we chose to do the deluxe drinks package which included all drink options and it worked out perfectly for us because we could order cocktails by the pool and pre-dinner drinks at one of the many gorgeous bars without having to whip out your purse each time.
We loved the gym facilities on board the ship. It was far more extensive than we had anticipated. They even offer a number of gym classes. I must say, it’s quite wonderful running on a treadmill while staring out at the sea.

We spent a full day at CocoCay in the Berry Islands which was amazing. The island will function as a full water park from July and already there is so much to do! All we were interested in doing, however, is drinking pina coladas, tanning and swimming in that incredible turquoise water.
We also spent a full day in Nassau which lots of fun because we decided to do a little bit of a highlights tour around the island which was great to give us some history about the Bahamas, teach us about life on the island and learn to see the place through the eyes of the locals. We ate traditional food, drank traditional drinks, headed to the beach for more of that mesmerising turquoise water and even ended up in a pirates museum which was pretty interesting considering the Bahamas was prime pirates territory in the 1700s.
We had the most incredible time on board the Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the Seas. It was a great introduction to the world of cruising and to the Caribbean. We’ve agreed that more cruises and more of the Caribbean are definitely on the cards in the future. Here is a highlights video for you to enjoy if you’d like to see more of what all we got up to!
