The first half of the year has come and gone so fast that I feel as though I blinked and it was over. I still have so many things that I want to accomplish before the year is over so best I not waste any more time delaying things that are actually important to me. It’s time to start taking note of what needs work and how I can tick off the 5 things I aim to accomplish before 2020.
1. Joining the 5AM Club
This past month, I’ve read the book titled “The 5AM Club”. I have a full review of what I actually thought of the book coming, however, one thing that has resonated with me is that throughout my life I’ve always been really good at waking up early and accomplishing goals first thing in the morning. Whether that meant heading to the gym or fitting in an extra hour or two of studying while the world is still quiet around you can be so rewarding and can really prepare you for accomplishing your goals.
Late last year I, regrettably, fell out of this habit and I’m only starting to get back into the swing of things now. I haven’t perfected it yet but I need to and I’m allowing myself until the end of this month before I need to have it totally mastered. I truly feel that you miss out on so many good things if you sleep in, so it’s important to me that I start rising earlier.
2. Wedding fitness routine
I suppose this goal follows on from the previous one. Rising early for gym is so rewarding to because I am able to start the day on a high note, having accomplished a great workout and feeling a rush of endorphyns while listening to all my favourite music. It is the ultimate mood booster to know that you’ve accomplished all that so early in the morning and it really sets a fantastic tone for the rest of the day.
I’ve started the BBG 2.0 once again to start prepping for the wedding and I’m currently on week 18 and loving every minute of it. I think I might finish this 12 week program and then start from week 1 and repeat the whole 24 weeks leading up until the wedding. It’s so effective, so why not?!
3. Goodreads Reading challenge 2019
If you read my last Arum Lilea Book Club book review post, you will already know how much I love reading and each year I love to take part in the Goodreads Reading Challenge. I’m currently 70% of my way through the challenge and I still have a couple more books lined up to finish reading before the end of the year. This is a goal that would probably fall under the category of “Entertainment”, however, there is so much that can be learnt by reading that it’s still so important to me.
4. More family dinners at my house
Between Ryan and my sister, Jasmine both having hospital schedules, finding time off with either of these two is difficult and finding time when they’re both off is almost impossible! Family dinners that used to be common place have now, however, become quite rare and I’m not too proud of this. I really want to make a point of more frequent family dinners so we can all grab a meal together at least every other week so we’re up to date on what is happening in everyone’s lives.
5. Familiarising myself with finance and taxes
Now in my late 20s, there’s really no excuse for me to feel overwhelmed when it comes to different choices in investing but, truth be told, I do feel overwhelmed. I need to start dedicating some time to understanding how best to invest in my future and prepare for retirement and all that good stuff so no more delaying. It’s time to sit down with an expert and put some strategies in place.
I hope you found my list of 5 things I am to accomplish before 2020 interesting. Do you have anything on your list of goals that you haven’t yet ticked off? I hope this inspires you to write your own list of things to accomplish before 2020. I would love to know what yours are!
