Happy Friday everyone! It’s been such a crazy busy work week but I’m so happy to be ending the week on a high note. I wanted to share a Friday Favourites post rounding up everything I’ve loved this week to share a little joy with you and perhaps they become some of your favourites too.
folklore by Taylor Swift
Oh my gosh, can we take a second to speak about Taylor Swift’s surprise album? I have fallen madly in love with it. The instrumental layering right throughout the album really captivated me with all its beautiful sounds and stirrings. Then along came the story… Now I’m a really sucker for life stories and great story telling, so when I read about the album being written about Rebekah Harkness and the family that previously owned her Rhode Island house, I fell right down the rabbit hole! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can read about it in this article. I just fell in love with the whole album from beginning to end and I’ve had it on repeat everyday. My favourite song would have to be Epiphany. With everything going on in the world at the moment, I just find it hauntingly beautiful and very emotional so, while I adore it, I find myself wiping my eyes every time I hear it. Am I the only one?
The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa
Again, as a lover of great storytelling and the journeys through life, I started reading The Travelling Cat Chronicles this week and it’s beautiful. There is such tenderness in the love between a pet and its owner and we may not always appreciate it, but our pets see us at our happiest and at our lowest low. We grow such a bond with our animals and it’s an incredible relationship. This is a story of life through the eyes of a cat and it’s really special and I’ve also had a few chuckles as the cat points out a few absurd things humans do. I should finish this book either tonight or tomorrow but it’s been one of those quick reads with a beautiful message.
NEWTs readathon
While we’re on the topic of books, I’ll be participating in the NEWTs Magical Readathon in the month of August. I explained the readathon and mentioned a few of the books I’ll be reading in this vlog in case you missed it. I’m so excited about the books I’ve chosen and can’t wait to dive into all these stories. I also did a poll on my Instagram stories last week asking whether you’d like another Arum Lilea Book Club post and it was clear that loads of you are looking forward to that post so keep your eyes peeled for that next week!
If you missed my previous post, you can catch up on my bridesmaid post here. I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and a lovely weekend. We’ll probably be having a takeout dinner tonight and I’m looking forward to a glass of wine to ring in the weekend. Until next week, stay safe, stay happy and stay kind everyone xxx
