Hi everyone! I am absolutely over the moon to commence with the Halloween Hayride Readathon today. So many of you have already messaged me to say that you will be participating and it makes me so happy to hear that you’re as excited as I am. I’m delighted to see that a few people have already posted their readathon reading list in this blog post.
If you haven’t already done so, please will you include your stops on the map and your reading list in the comments of this blog post. That way, we can track who’s reading what. I think it will be so great to look back on at the end of the month. It’s also a great way to share recommendations for other books that match the prompts if you’re looking for inspiration.
Here are the prompts that I’ve picked and as well as my reading list for the Halloween Hayride Readathon:
- Sweet Shop: A Scandal in Bohemia (The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes) by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
- Dress Up Store: Alice Through The Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
- Pumpkin Spiced Lattes: A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towels
- Pumpkin Patch: When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi
- Haunted House: Home Before Dark by Riley Sager
I briefly discussed my choices in this video if you’re interested to hear more about them. I’m so excited to read them all, but I think the one I’m most excited about is my choice for the Haunted House because I think that’s going to be the perfect choice for Halloween. I may actually save that one for last, though it’s going to be so tempting not to dive in sooner. I think a good murder mystery is also going to give me all the Halloween vibes so it’s a great time for me become acquainted with the timeless classic that is Sherlock Holmes.
I’d absolutely love it if you shared all your reading moments with me on Instagram using the hashtag #ArumLileaBookClub so that I can repost. By seeing each other’s reading posts, we can all stay motivated throughout the month and we’ll also be able to discover all sorts of wonderful new books and other book lovers. I’ll also be checking in with you and giving you a shout out when you complete a prompt. I’d really love this reading challenge to be as interactive as possible and I’d be so happy if you shared your reading world with me. I have to say a huge thank you to everyone that already has. I’ve received the sweetest messages and they make me smile so brightly!
I want to wish you all a wonderful Halloween Hayride Readathon! I hope that you discover so many great stories and enjoy zoning out and into a good book. Light your favourite scented candle, make yourself a cup of tea and grab a few biscuits, put your phone on silent and take some time out for yourself. You deserve it. 🙂
